WSA Technical Services Engineers Mary Joyce Alvarez, Russell Hernandez and Ralph Lantin flew to Hong Kong to attend the Nominum Partner Training. The 5-day event was held at Le Meridien Cyberport last March 13-17, 2017. The training was hosted by Nominum Inc. which pioneered DNS and has been the innovation leader ever since—leading the way by making service provider networks more reliable, more secure, and more responsive to changing subscriber needs.
The training covered the industry’s highest-performing and most secure carrier-grade caching DNS server, and the extensible N2 Applications which include N2 Engage and N2 ThreatAvert. The training was led by Mr. Mathias Krober, Principal Consulting Engineer of Nominum. Each participant had his own assigned individual server in the Nominum cloud to configure. Days 1 & 2 included introduction, presentation of conceptual and operational aspects of the product and hands-on experience on Vantio CacheServe 7.1. On the second evening, Nominum hosted a dinner at Lei Yue Mun. The dinner also provided the participants a venue for interaction, discussion and getting-to-know each other.
Days 3 & 4 covered training and hands-on experience on Nominum N2 ThreatAvert. The N2 ThreatAvert application works with CacheServe to protect the DNS servers, networks and subscribers from abuse through precise targeting of malicious or unwanted traffic. At the same time, legitimate queries are protected to preserve a subscriber’s browsing experience with no false positives.
The last day featured another Nominum N2 Application, N2 Engage Content Compliance which blocks prohibited online content in accordance with local regulatory mandates.
The training provided the attendees a deeper knowledge of DNS–based security and Nominum N2 Applications. Moreover, the training enhanced WSA’s capability to provide excellent pre- and post-sales support.
